How to buy Monero without KYC or ID

Monero is private money, so it makes sense to acquire it privately. "No-KYC" means no identity verification — no photo of your passport, no selfie, no account tied to your name. Here are the four routes that require none of that, from easiest to most private, and exactly how to use each.

First: a wallet that's yours

1 · No-KYC instant swaps (easiest)

If you already hold any crypto — BTC, LTC, USDT, ETH — you can convert it to XMR in minutes with no account. The service gives you a deposit address, you send your coin, XMR arrives in your wallet.

Privacy note: a swap is only as private as the coin going in. If you bought that BTC with KYC, the swap still traces back to you — great for convenience, not for anonymity. To break the link entirely, use P2P, cash or an atomic swap below, or start from coins you earned/mined.

2 · Peer-to-peer (fiat, no ID)

Buy XMR directly from a person and pay with bank transfer, cash or gift cards, protected by decentralized escrow. Since LocalMonero shut down, the ecosystem runs on Haveno-based networks like RetoSwap.

1. Install a Haveno-based P2P app (desktop). It connects to the trade network over Tor.
2. Pick a sell offer matching your currency and payment method; funds go into escrow.
3. Pay the seller as agreed; once confirmed, escrow releases the XMR to you.
